The right treatment for every situation

At Abortuskliniek Den Haag, we offer two types of procedures for terminating a pregnancy up to 13 weeks. Which procedure is right for you depends on how far along you are in your pregnancy. The ultrasound performed at the clinic is always the deciding factor in determining which procedure is possible.

Preparation at home

Being well-prepared helps. Read up on the treatment that’s right for your situation and fill out the health questionnaire. Bring the required documents with you to the abortion clinic in The Hague. The specific documents you’ll need depend on the treatment you’ve chosen. See the different treatment options for more details. To maintain a calm and private environment at our clinic, children are not allowed. Please make childcare arrangements in advance.

Intake and Treatment

When you arrive at our clinic in The Hague, we’ll first perform an ultrasound to determine how far along you are in your pregnancy. This is followed by an initial consultation with a doctor or nurse. We’ll discuss your decision, your health, and which treatment is best for you. Depending on the treatment, you’ll either take medication (the abortion pill) or undergo a brief procedure (suction curettage). Our experienced team will guide you through every step and ensure that you feel as comfortable as possible.

Depending on the method

What to expect afterward varies depending on the method. After a suction curettage, you’ll first rest for a while at the clinic. You’ll be given something to eat and drink while our team monitors you. You can usually go home after about an hour. With the abortion pill, you’ll take the first tablet at the clinic and then go home. The rest of the process takes place at home, following the instructions you’ll receive.

Costs

If you live in the Netherlands and have health insurance, the costs of treatment are fully covered by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. Please bring your insurance card or policy statement and a valid form of identification. If you do not have these documents, you can request an extract from the civil registry at city hall and bring it with you.

If you do not officially reside in the Netherlands and are not insured, you are responsible for the costs, which must be paid in cash before treatment.
